Employees are solely responsible for recording their time. AOMs responsibility is to confirm the time matches observed work. If an employee has a missing punch, the AOM on shift must email the employee’s work and personal email and cc the department management team to request the employee's actual attendance. AOMs cannot add time for an employee without written confirmation of their clock in/out even if this will result in a retro.
Causes of missing punches can include but are not limited to:
- Known to be in attendance but no punches
- Failed to punch out
- Punch does not match observed arrival time
- Failure to clock out during lunch
If an employee fails to punch in/out, the manager suspects they falsified/reported a false punch, or they used mobile punches in a manner not in line with MTV policy the AOM should conduct an investigation into the potential timetheft. Please see this article on conducting a punch related time theft investigation. An email template is included below.
If an employee is consistently missing punches or needing their timesheet adjusted, AOMs must coach them that failure to properly record time is a policy violation. Employees must be coached in writing that they are violating policy, and any further missed punches may result in corrective action.
Hi [Insert Name],
I’m reaching out because we are [missing a punch, punches, believe your time in/out is incorrect, do not have lunch punches]. Please let me know your correct times for your shift so I can update accordingly.
Failing to respond in a timely manner may result in a delay in your pay for this day.
Best,
[AOM]
No Call No Shows
If an employee No Call, No Shows (NCNS), AOMs should do due diligence prior to issuing a Corrective Action to make sure that they did not improperly call out such as sending the email to an individual manager. If an employee improperly calls out, AOMs must coach them that failing to follow call out procedures should result in corrective action.

Hi [Insert Name],
I’m reaching out because you are scheduled to work from at [insert time] on [insert date], but we haven’t seen or heard anything from you. Is everything OK? Please let us know what’s going on as soon as possible. Missing your shift without any notification will result in a no-call/no-show, 2 of which will lead to termination of employment. For any day that you need to miss work, you must email [Insert Local Management Group] and submit time off on Dayforce.
Please give us an update as soon as you can and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best,
[AOM]
